Fire safety education starts at a young age, and knowing what to do in an emergency can make all the difference. Our firefighters are helping students learn important safety tips, including:
π¨ Smoke Alarms: Know what a smoke alarm sounds like and why working smoke alarms are essential in your home.
πͺ Know Your Exits: Always know two ways out of every room and keep doors and hallways clear.
π Have an Escape Plan: Practice your home fire escape plan with your family so everyone knows what to do if a fire occurs.
π Choose a Meeting Place: Pick a safe location outside, away from your home, where everyone can meet after escaping.
π Get Out and Stay Out: Never go back inside a burning building. Leave the rescue to firefighters.
π± Call 911: Once you are safely outside, call 911 to report the emergency.
π²π₯ Wildfire Safety with the New Jersey Forest Fire Service: Fire safety doesnβt stop at our front door! Students can also learn about preventing wildfires by never playing with matches or lighters, properly extinguishing campfires, and never throwing cigarettes into dry grass or brush. Dry leaves, pine needles, and other vegetation can help a fire spread quickly. Always follow local fire restrictions and help keep New Jerseyβs forests and neighborhoods safe!
Weβre proud to educate our communityβs students and help them build the knowledge and confidence they need to stay safe. A few minutes of fire safety education today can help save lives tomorrow!
A big thank-you to the staff and students at Shaner School for welcoming us! β€οΈ
